This cracking little Arthur C. Clarke novel is a sort of science fictional espionage thriller that’s set a couple of hundred years in the future. Mankind has spread out from Earth to the moon and to several of the planets in the solar system, and there’s a lot of tension between the Earthlings and the wider solar system.

The conflict mostly surrounds the fact that a lot of the heavier metals are only available on Earth, but then some new research suggests that it might be possible to harness those metals from the moon. Our protagonist is an amateur spy who’s dispatched to the moon almost against his will to investigate reports that there’s a mole on the moon. And I’m not talking about the burrowing animals.

All in all, it was a decent read that passed the time on the exercise bike.
